Reading Time: 2 minutes

Event will focus on sustainable clean energy solutions that economically benefit producers

The Indiana Agriculture Coalition for Renewable Energy (IN-ACRE) and the Indiana Agriculture-Climate Alliance (IN-Climate) will host their first annual Summer Agriculture & Policy Forum to convene producers, industry, renewable developers and conservation advocates for a day of sessions focused on the future of climate, clean energy and agriculture in our state.

Former U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly will speak before lunch; the keynote speaker at lunch will be given by former Indianapolis Star business reporter John Ketzenberger, who previously headed the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute and now serves as Director of Government Relations for The Nature Conservancy in Indiana.

“Agriculture is a solution and our voice needs to be heard,” said IN-ACRE executive director Sarah Beth Aubrey.

Farmers and agricultural producers are invited to attend the event for free; tickets are $25 for members of the general public. Media are invited to attend the event at no cost. Morning panel discussions hosted by IN-ACRE will highlight policy, markets and on-farm opportunities. Dr. Peter J. Schubert from the Lugar Center for Renewable Energy will moderate and help the audience explore market drivers and the future of renewable energy with panelists from NIPSCO, Geenex and EDP Renewables. The second panel will be led by Carl Lisek of South Shore Clean Cities, Inc. This session will provide real insight from agricultural producers that have experience with the renewable energy industry.

Lunch will provide one of many opportunities to network and visit our trade show area. In addition to the speakers noted above, participants will hear from Paul J. Mitchell, President & CEO at Energy Systems Network and Director at Hoosier Solar Holdings, the Indiana-based solar development company and the flagship sponsor of the Summer Forum.

The afternoon session will begin with an introduction to IN-Climate, the Indiana Agriculture-Climate Alliance. Through research, distribution of data, networking and collaborating, Sarah Beth Aubrey and her team will be working to lead the dialog regarding topics related to climate.

The final panels for the day will start off with Jeff Cummins from Indiana Farm Bureau moderating a discussion on The Carbon Impact, featuring panelists from Indigo AG, the Department of Natural Resources and Corteva. Following another networking break, the second afternoon panel will be moderated by Jordan Seger from ISDA and feature landowners and industry leaders like Martin Seed & Hubner Industries, Farm Green and Lehe Farms sharing their perspectives and experiences on the carbon market.
